Furniture Levelers

Furniture levelers are a simple solution for unstable furniture. By preventing a piece of furniture from rocking or wobbling on the flooring underneath, they improve safety and prolong the lifespan of both the furniture and the floor. They are available in a variety of sizes and materials, with a range of features to choose from. A key aspect to consider when choosing furniture levelers is their weight limit, as the maximum load that can be supported will differ according to type and model.

Uneven furniture often occurs due to one or more legs becoming rugged or lopsided over time, whether it is from the original manufacturing process or simply through regular usage. Many tables, chairs, and other pieces of furniture can be leveled by using shims for an immediate fix or by installing adjustable feet to provide a more permanent solution. In some cases, the leveler is already installed in the legs of the furniture and simply needs to be adjusted.

There are a few different types of furniture levelers to choose from, including a selection of shims, spring clips, and T-nuts. The most popular type of furniture leveler is the shim, which can be easily placed and removed as needed. These shims are made of flexible and unbreakable material, making them an ideal choice for delicate or antique furniture that may be damaged by drilling holes into it. They can also be cut to size as necessary for an optimal fit and are ideal for small spaces where space is limited.

A shim has a small, circular metal plate at the end that is used to secure it to the leg of the piece of furniture being leveled. Once the shim is in place, it can be tapped with a hammer to cause the pins at the bottom of the shim to engage with the wood and hold the foot in place. Some shims are coated with a rubbery substance to prevent them from sticking or slipping on the floor.

Some shims are designed to screw in or out, allowing them to be easily adjusted as needed. Others are made of a sturdy plastic or rubber that can be snapped into place in the foot of the furniture and secured by hand. These shims are often less expensive than other types of furniture levelers and can be purchased in bulk for a more cost-effective option.

The T-nut furniture leveler is similar to a shim in that it is easily installed and positioned by hand, but it can be adjusted in a wrench for a more precise fix. It is recommended that these furniture levelers be sprayed with a lubricant before installation to prevent them from getting stuck in the wooden leg of the furniture. It is important to note that a T-nut can only be used in wooden legs with a 1/4-20 threaded stem. It is not recommended for use on upholstered furniture or any other type of furniture that would require a hex nut to install.
